چکیده
In this paper, the mechanisms of hydrate formation in presence porous activated carbon particles (PACP) loaded with cyclopentane (CP) and immersed an excess pure water are investigated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) combination gas porosimetry (GP) mercury intrusion (MIP). PACP different pore size distributions (PSDs) used CP hydrates formed at atmospheric pressure 1 °C. desorption from PACP, initially saturated or oversaturated CP, that is induced by crystallization studied quantifying amount CP-to-hydrates obtained and/or CP-conversion rate. It was found available for predominantly contained large pores on external surface PACP. Therefore, to enhance quantity formed, larger than a given threshold size, macroporous volume should be used. Moreover, shift observed equilibrium temperature shows fraction inside pores. The conclusions reached might offer new insights into hydrate-based processes.

Micromechanical Adhesion Force Measurements between Cyclopentane Hydrate Particles
Cyclopentane hydrate interparticle adhesion force measurements were performed in pure cyclopentane liquid using a micromechanical force apparatus. Cyclopentane hydrate adhesion force measurements were compared to those of cyclic ethers, tetrahydrofuran and ethylene oxide, which were suspected to be cyclic ether-lean and thus contain a second ice phase. This additional ice phase led to an over-p...
متن کاملInvestigation of factors affecting crystallization of cyclopentane clathrate hydrate.
We report the results of systematic investigations of the influence of thermal history and other factors on crystallization of a model clathrate hydrate (cyclopentane hydrate) studied as water-in-oil and oil-in-water emulsions to remove the nucleation influence of substrates other than ice and hydrates. Hydrate and ice seem to form simultaneously under the conditions of these experiments, with ...
متن کاملCarbon dioxide hydrate particles for ocean carbon sequestration
This paper presents strategies for producing negatively buoyant CO2 hydrate composite particles for ocean carbon sequestration. Our study is based on recent field observations showing that a continuous-jet hydrate reactor located at an ocean depth of ~1500 m produced curved negatively buoyant cylindrical particles with diameters ~ 2.5 cm and lengths up to ~ 1 m. Accordingly we performed new lab...
متن کاملEffect of Surfactant-coated Particles on Clathrate Hydrate Formation
Clathrate hydrates are crystalline compounds composed of hydrogen-bonded water molecules that form polyhedral cavities and trap small guest molecules such as methane, carbon dioxide, cyclopentane (CP), and tetrahydrofuran (THF). Understanding the formation and dissociation of clathrate hydrates is of significant importance to addressing some global challenges such as greenhouse gas mitigation a...
متن کاملInvestigation of effective parameters on adsorption of amoxicillin from aqueous medium onto activated carbon
In this study, the adsorption of amoxicillin onto activated carbon was investigated. The effect of particle size and the effluent flow rate was discussed as well as the kinetics and isotherm of adsorption equilibrium. The isotherm equilibrium studies showed that the Langmuir model was appropriate for describing the adsorption equilibrium of amoxicillin onto the activated carbon. Furthermore, th...
